Volume
Calculate the volume from from your point cloud.
Calculate volume using a Datum Plane.
The Datum Plane reference is created from the "Top" or " "Bottom" of a Model View box. You can use an existing Model View box by selecting it from the Object List and selecting all of the points within the box. Saved model views are useful for progress tracking. You can create a new Model View box manually or by fitting a Model View box to the selection of points. Only the selected points are used in the volume calculation. Use the "Top" of the Model View box to calculate the volume of a pit. Use the "Bottom" of the Model View box to calculate the volume of a pile. Execute the Volume command with the reference plane and points selected. |

Calculate volume using a Polygon Shape.
Start by creating a 2D or 3D polygon shape object using the Polygon tool. You can use this shape object, or any imported CAD surface model, to act as the datum reference used in calculating the volume of the point cloud. The points used in the volume calculation are automatically selected. Execute the Volume command with the datum shape selected. |
